Character Creation

Character Creation

The first and most important assumption is that your character has received The Letter and intends to accept the offer therein. The offer is generous enough that most of status 1 or lower would jump at it, and those at status/wealth higher than 1 would certainly consider its merits.

The second thing to consider, is why? Everyone has a history, after all. You might be an ex-military type, or a magickal scholar, or a talented inventor. Maybe you are a second story man? Or perhaps you’re able to bring certain…. influence to bear. Think about reasons you were looking for work, and why you ceased to do…. whatever you were doing previously.

Also consider your race. By and large, generic fantasy assumptions will hold – except for the top hats. And the canes. And the goggles.
Playable races:
Dwarf
Half-Elf
Half-Ogre
Half-Orc
Gnome
Human

Also think about what your prior vocation was. This will be very helpful in determining your skills. Because this is GURPS and you will have lots of them.
Along with a prior vocation (or vocations), think about what your characters exceptional talent might be. There must be a reason Gordon Pembridge has approached you.
Example character archetypes:
Detective
Scientist
Engineer
Gadgeteer
Hired Gun
Magician
Learned Wizard
Archeologist
Financier
Landed Gent
Heiress

Actual character creation is planned to be a group activity.
